Since the beginning of the health crisis, the home has become a place for personal but also professional life. Many of us have had to get used to telecommuting.
This is why new hobbies have showed up to get out of a routine and enjoy a bit more our time with nature. There are many creative ideas to make our home a lot more comfortable and pleasant.
Create a green space in your home
Did you know that according to a study conducted in November 2020 among German, French, British and Dutch citizens: 60% of respondents say that flowers and plants make the home and work environment more pleasant?
It is obvious that the Coronavirus has created and fostered interest in plants, and the truth is that it is a great satisfaction to see how they grow and flower.
Let colors bloom in your garden or terrace!
If you are one of the lucky ones who have a small plot at home, take advantage of the benefits of gardening.
In addition to having an extra distraction and a good time in contact with nature, planting flowers will add color to your garden, terrace or balcony. Before you start working in your pleasant outdoor area, it's important to have a set of tools that will help you get the job done with ease. Equip yourself with some good gloves, pruning shears, rake, shovel and of course a good sprayer for the care of your plants.
At Matabi we have a wide range of sprayers. For small gardens the E1 electric sprayer, the Berry 1.5 manual sprayers or the Evolution 2 are ideal. However, if you have a larger surface area you can also find sprayers with greater capacity such as the electric Evolution 10 LT, the Evolution 12 backpack. And if what you have is a medium-sized garden, get the Evolution 7. You choose!
These flowers are a must
Peony
There are about forty species of this perennial plant which represents sincerity and which was originally well known for its healing properties. The leaves of this plant are soft or dark green and the flowers are fragrant.
Planting Peony is recommended between September and May. Preferably in autumn to give it time to develop its root system. The flowers appear in spring but they have the merit of being resistant and their lifespan is impressive.
We also have to be very patient when we plant peonies since generally it takes two years for the plant to flower.
Roses
Among the flowers that the english adore the most, one of the first on the list is the Rose. This flower can have different colors, white, fuchsia or orange, but the most requested is red. Red roses are considered the queen of flowers.
If you are planting a rose bush, remember that the best season is fall, but it is also possible to plant them in spring. In this case, you will need to water more generously for the first few months.
It is also recommended to regularly remove the weeds that usually show at the foot of the rose bush. And for this there is no better tool than the manual weed remover Weedstick, a drift-free applicator, which transfers the herbicide liquid solution from the tank through direct contact with the weed without contaminating the surroundings of the weed to be eliminated.
And if you have a barbecue in the garden, then we recommend you to get the Electric Weeder, an electric weed burner that is also ideal for lighting barbecues.
Lilies
If the rose is the queen of flowers, the lily is the king. The lily represents elegance and arouses admiration. With its majestic flowers, this plant has always aroused admiration: associated in turn with the Greek goddesses or even the Virgin Mary.
Like roses, the best seasons to plant lily bulbs are spring or fall. You will need to plant the bulbs in groups of 4 or 5, about six inches deep from the ground and about eight inches apart from each other.
Lilies should be watered regularly, especially in spring and summer. It is also advisable to add fertilizer to irrigation every 15 days. Decrease watering in fall and stop in winter. It is also important to avoid those places exposed to direct sunlight.
